Twenty-four coloured pencils — twice the choice of the small box, in the same slim hanging pack.

Doubling the count gives you somewhere to go when one pencil is not quite the colour you meant, which is the difference between colouring a shape in and shading it. The barrels are round and lacquered in the colour of their own lead, so the set stays quick to work from once the pencils are loose on a desk rather than in the box.
