At 25 × 25 cm a square is a wall piece rather than a study, and this is the largest board in the range that still comes three to a pack.

There is no long edge to hang a composition on, which makes the square the format that asks the most of you and repays it when it works. The board is flat and rigid with a plain unprinted surface. It is a real step up from 20 × 20 cm — more than half as much surface again — and it wants a table rather than a lap.
