Single-Tip Acrylic Marker Set — 48 Colours

About this product

Forty-eight markers in a tall, slim carton — 31.5 cm high and only 2.8 cm deep — so it stands on a shelf like a book rather than occupying the desk. It is the narrowest way to keep this many acrylic colours to hand.

Every marker has a single tapered fibre tip in the colour of its ink, set on a gloss black barrel with a clear ribbed collar behind the tip that shows the ink. The ink being acrylic, it is opaque: it lies on top of timber, rock, ceramic, glass and canvas rather than soaking in, which is the reason to reach for one of these over a dye-based pen.

Printed on the carton

The manufacturer makes four claims of its own on the box — non-toxic, brush tip, strong coverage and water-based — together with a free ink system, rich colours and a flexible tip. These are the manufacturer's words, repeated rather than endorsed. The carton also asks that markers be re-capped after use and stored horizontally.

Storing them flat is worth taking seriously with any acrylic marker: the pigment settles, and a marker left standing on its tip will need more shaking before it flows evenly again.
